Getting connected in Moorabool

Moorabool community group members can network at a free meet-and-greet event next month.

The Moorabool Partnerships Group will host the event at the Ballan Mechanics Institute, from 4-6pm on Saturday, June 27.

Event co-organiser Mary-Teresa Ritchie said the aim of the gathering was to ensure community groups could network and form “inter-connected partnerships”.

“We want people to collaborate a bit more by sharing information … and helping each other with grant applications,” Ms Ritchie said.

“There are so many community groups and they’re doing it hard, are doing it by themselves and don’t necessarily know who is out
there.”

Ms Ritchie said she hoped partnerships formed as a result of the event would benefit the community, and groups, by allowing them to collaborate on such things as events, resource sharing, administration and finances.

“Normal people who are volunteering in the community don’t necessarily have a financial background,” she said.

“If they can talk to other people about it, it might help them see their way through.”
