Melton South’s much-anticipated children’s and community centre was opened last week.
State Families and Children Minister Jenny Mikakos, Melton MP Don Nardella and Melton mayor Sophie Ramsey joined dozens of residents at the Bridge Road centre’s opening in Melton South last Wednesday.
“These are state-of-the-art facilities designed to offer a wide range of integrated services at the one location,” Cr Ramsey said.
The $6.7 million centre offers occasional care, maternal and child health, breastfeeding support, parenting programs, play groups, immunisations and various community activities to Melton families. There are 198 four-year-old and 123 three-year-old kindergarten places at the centre.
Mr Nardella said Melton families valued their early childhood services.
Ms Mikakos said that by bringing the services together under one roof, “we are ensuring Melton South kids and their families can access quality health and early education services close to where they live”.
