At Melton Uniting Church op shop, fine china is coming off the shelves in preparation for this year’s Biggest Morning Tea.
The Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser helps fund the Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support service programs.
Assistant manager Peter Swann said the fundraiser was one of many the op shop supports each year.
“Nearly everyone we know has been touched by cancer in some way,” Mr Swann said. “And the campaign does touch everyone in the community.”
Mr Swann said it is an important way of extending support to the wider community.
“It makes us feel more involved around the community. We are not just raising money for ourselves but for the wider community.”
He encouraged everyone to come along for the morning tea on Thursday, May 21, for a cuppa and some nibblies.
“Come on down and have a cuppa to help beat cancer,” he said.
Earlier this year, the op shop raised more than $1700 for the Good Friday Appeal.
