COURTHOUSE CLASSICS

There’s no disputing that top-quality service, delicious food and a family-friendly atmosphere keep patrons coming back to The Courthouse Hotel.

The open, naturally-lit bistro is lovely by day and by night, with a wonderfully relaxed ambience under garden lights.

Venue manager Mary Novacic says the popular Bacchus Marsh hotel specialises in Australian pub food but with lashings of international flair.

“As well as classics, such as parmas and roasts, we also have a grill menu and some international favourites. Pork belly is one of our big sellers, as are the Mongolian beef, curry gondal [beef or chicken] and international salads.”

Head chef Maurice Ratcliffe has been at the Courthouse for almost three years and leads a strong and focused team of experienced staff. Maurice has worked a la carte in South Yarra and catered at weddings and functions in Geelong.

Diners can whet their appetite on coconut prawns served with zesty lime aioli and a side salad; or lemon and pepper-crumbed calamari served with beer-battered chips and salad.

Warm up with a triplet of pork belly, with crispy crackling, crushed potato, Asian greens and mango chutney as a main; or perhaps try the crispy skin Atlantic salmon served on a bed of white beans and asparagus and topped with a European salad mix.

Many of the dishes can be made gluten-free to order, and spinach and pumpkin risotto is one of the Courthouse’s most popular vegetarian options.

Choose from a variety of individually served cakes in the display fridge to round out a delicious meal, all served with a scoop of ice-cream and crushed biscuit.

Bench seating on cushions beside the windows and an alfresco dining area, heated in the colder months, make comfortable spaces for casual dining or drinks with friends and family.

The function room can cater for up to 100 people (standing). Function packs are available online or for collection in-house.

There are also a kids’ play area, sports bar, TAB and a newly refurbished gaming room.

The bistro offers $10 and $15 express lunches, Monday to Friday. There are lots more specials to be found online.

The Courthouse Hotel, Bacchus Marsh, 116 Main Street, Bacchus Marsh. Opens 9am-midnight seven days. Inquiries: 5367 2086 or
