Rotary Moorabool Ambassador a new pitch to fundraisers

Bacchus Marsh Rotary Club launched its inaugural Rotary Moorabool Ambassador awards on Friday.

The program is aimed at people who help raise funds for local and international projects. Participants are each required to raise a minimum of $5000 during the course of the program, from June until February next year.

A third of funds raised will go to support the club’s affiliation with the village of Yen Luat in North Vietnam, and another third will be donated to the participant’s charity of choice in Moorabool.

Awards management committee chairwoman Narelle Laing-Pearson says the program is a new way for the club to raise funds and build membership.

“Fun is a key part of the word fundraising … we want it to be fun,” Ms Laing-Pearson said. “The value of volunteers and volunteering strengthens communities and generates personal reward. The money is distributed in a way where you can make a difference on both local and international platforms.”

At the end of the program, three awards will be handed out: an ambassador award, highest fundraiser award and service award.
