Diggers Rest Burras will kick off the season this weekend on the team’s newly named home turf, Bloomdale Oval.
The renaming of the oval results from the new partnership between the Diggers Rest Senior Football Netball Club and Bloomdale developer Investa Land, which will sponsor the club for the next three years.
Club president Chris Payne said the new sponsorship would enable the club to grow.
“To have something like this opens many doors for us in terms of being able to get people into the club and expanding,” he said.
“It puts us in a position where we can offer more services and a place for people to come and enjoy their football and netball.”
Payne said the sponsorship would be used to develop the club and the game. He said it was difficult to get junior players aged 16 to 18 to join up and the sponsorship would enable the club to offer better incentives to players, such as reducing membership fees and discounting football boots.
“The club is extremely happy and very grateful for the support of Bloomdale and we look forward to working with them for the next three years,” Payne said.
Investa Land Victoria general manager Paul O’Brien said it was an honour to sponsor the Diggers Rest Burras and he looked forward to cheering them on this season.
“The community has welcomed the Bloomdale development; we wanted to give something back,” he said.
