Melton’s savvy shoppers are being invited to snap up a bargain for a good cause.
Melton Uniting Church’s Op Shop will donate all proceeds from sales on Thursday, April 2, to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Manager Tony Fielder says everything in the shop will also be half-price on Thursday.
“I believe most of my customers have had some dealing with the Royal Children’s Hospital and it’s only right we give something back to it,” Mr Fielder said.
This is the second year the op shop will raise and donate money to the Good Friday Appeal.
Last year’s effort raised $1606.45 and this year’s target is $2000.
A sausage sizzle and morning tea awaits hungry shoppers, while those feeling extra generous can pop unwanted change into donation tins on the counter.
“The response from the customers last year was excellent and they really appreciated what we did,” Mr Fielder said. “Everyone was very encouraging.”
He said everyone was welcome to donate their second-hand goodies and what was not sold at their store was shipped as a donation to Malaysia.
