Month of living actively in Moorabool and Melton

Moorabool and Melton councils are encouraging their communities to take on the Premier’s Active April challenge.

In Active April, starting tomorrow, Premier Daniel Andrews is encouraging everyone to do 30 minutes of physical activity every day.

Moorabool mayor Paul Tatchell said the challenge provided a great opportunity to make exercise a regular part of the day. He said the council was getting behind the initiative and he hoped the community would jump on board.

Moorabool council will host a local ‘pram walk’ in Bacchus Marsh on April 20.

“As well as hitting the 30 minutes of activity for that day, the walk will give people a chance to meet new people and do something healthy,” Cr Tatchell said.

“All interested playgroups and local mums, dads and carers with or without prams are invited to come along for the walk.”

Melton council will host an Active April Fun Day at Willows Historical Park from 10am-2pm on April 9. Activities will include mini-golf, ball games, giant chess, cricket activities and face painting for children.

People taking part in Active April can download the official app to track their physical activity. By registering for Active April, participants also receive offers such as 10 free YMCA passes.
