Rockbank Primary School pupils have enjoyed introducing Melton councillors to their breakfast club.
The club, which has been running for several years, invites pupils and their families to enjoy breakfast at school every Friday morning.
Last week, the pupils extended an invitation to councillors as a thank you for Melton council’s support of the initiative.
Prep teacher Sue Mundie said pupils enjoyed coming to school early on Fridays to have breakfast with their peers.
“It gives them a sense of community,” Ms Mundie said.
“They get to sit down with other children from other grades and it certainly helps them with their communication and getting on with each other.”
Ms Mundie said the breakfast club also encouraged pupils to be responsible and support each other.
Cereal, toast and Milo are on the menu for all to enjoy and sometimes the school contributes to a charity through its breakfast club.
Ms Mundie said the club had made an extra effort for the Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser, with pupils bringing in gold-coin donations.
“It’s a nice way to celebrate a week of learning,” she said.
