Family fun with Diggers Rest fire brigade

Diggers Rest fire brigade is gearing up to host its sixth annual Family Fun Day this Saturday.

The day will be filled with activities for families, including the popular free Easter egg hunt and children’s colouring competition.

Fundraising co-ordinator Maree Welshe said the event was the volunteer brigade’s main fundraiser, which helped upgrade essential equipment used to support the community.

Ms Welshe said brigade members and their families and friends would roll up their sleeves on Saturday to help put the event together and local businesses had jumped on board with donations.

She said it was a great opportunity for the community to get behind the brigade while enjoying a great day out.

“It is a real community vibe, the station can just feel like one big family enjoying a fun-filled day together,” she said.

Ms Welshe said children especially loved being at the station.

“They look forward to looking over the fire trucks and, of course, getting to squirt a hose with a firefighter,” she said.

Ms Welshe said the Family Fun Day was now a crowd favourite.

“We like to be able to provide the community with a fun-filled event that allows them to show their support for the CFA and particularly the Diggers Rest Brigade,” she said.
