Melton South Primary School’s Jayden, Callum and Mineaka and their prep friends had a ball last week when their teachers organised ‘clown day’ to encourage practical and fun learning.
Alphabet letters and the sounds of ‘c’ and ‘s’ were explained in class, and ‘super clowns’ and ‘silly clowns’ flocked to school on Friday for a novelty day.
Teacher Louy Saade said the idea was to make the activities fun and relatable while helping the children learn to pronounce some tricky consonants – like the letter ‘c’, which produces a different sound when used in ‘circus’ than, for example, in ‘clown’.
The teachers also dressed up to lead the fun. “We love it; we’re big kids ourselves,” Mr Saade said.
