How to handle a fussy eater

If your child is a fussy eater, come to an information session and speak to dietitians. From 1.30-3pm, Tuesday, March 31, at the Bridge Road Children’s and Community Centre, 260 Bridge Road, Melton South.

Author talk for garden friends

Botanical author Attila Kapitany will be guest speaker at Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden’s monthly meeting on March 11. Kapitany will have his books and a large range of native trees and succulents for show and sale. The presentation, part of Kapitany’s Botanical Gardens of Australia Tour, runs from 7.30pm at the Arnolds Creek Community Centre.

Friendly support at hand

If you are suffering from mental health issues and feel you could use some support, come along to the weekly sessions at the Melton South Community Centre, 41 Exford Road. Session times have changed to Mondays 12.30-2pm for women and Mondays from 7pm for men. Groups are non-judgmental and very friendly.

Of course you can do it

New short courses are available at Melton South Community Centre. They include learning to make probiotic drinks (March5), deluxe facials and express eyelash extensions (March 10 and 14). Also on March 14 there will be courses on anaphylaxis and asthma management. On March 15, courses will include soap-making and picture-framing. An eBay course will be held on March 16.

Women’s Day fundraiser

Celebrate International Women’s Day by raising funds for women, children and Ebola survivors. Dr Mimmie Claudine Watts has organised a three-course dinner from 6.30-10.30pm, Friday, March 6, at the Westwaters Hotel, 10-20 Lake Street, Caroline Springs. Former state health minister Bronwyn Pike will speak. Tickets cost $180.

Sons of the West expo

Sons of the West will kick off their 2015 schedule with a men’s health expo that will encourage men to speak openly about their health and make healthier lifestyle choices. From 10am-noon, Saturday, March 7, at Quest Apartments, 234 Caroline Springs Boulevard, Caroline Springs.

Safety session

As part of an Operation Safe Family Saturday session, parents will be able to have child restraints fitted and checked and motorists have anti-theft number
plate screws installed. There will jumping castles, animal farms, face painting, giveaways and a sausage sizzle. From 10am-2pm on Saturday, March 14, at the CS Square carpark, near Target, Caroline Springs.
