Fatma Hamit is nervous about losing her long, brown locks next month even though it’s all for a good cause.
The 24-year-old’s brother, Yilmaz Hamit, and her partner, Brendan Schembri, will also lose their hair to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.
“It’s my first time,” Ms Hamit said. “I’ve always wanted to do it and this time around I decided, yep, I’m going to.”
The three have already raised $1600 but hope the community and local businesses can support them to help reach their $4000 goal.
“I’m a healthy person [so] if I can give back to those in need it makes me feel better,” Ms Hamit said.
Although the Hamits have been growing their hair for a while – Yilmaz for seven years and Fatma for two – they’re excited to ‘‘be brave and shave’’.
“It’ll grow back,” Ms Hamit said.
And the person who donates the largest amount will get to shave the Rockbank residents’ heads next month.
Nostra Homes will sponsor the Rockbank team and will host an event at their display home at 23 Rowling Street, Plumpton, from 1-3pm on Sunday, March 15.
The Hamits and Mr Schembri will have their heads shaved between 2pm and 2.30pm.
