‘Kinder readiness’ session for Melton parents

Melton council is inviting families to find out if their children are ready for pre-school in the lead-up to the start of 2016 enrolments next month.

A ‘kinder readiness’ information session to help parents identify the right time to enrol their children will be co-hosted by the council and the Early Life Foundations.

It will be from 6.30-8pm on Tuesday, March 3, at the Melton library auditorium, 31 McKenzie Street, Melton.

Several Melton kindergartens will open their doors from 6-8pm on Wednesday, March 18, with families welcome to visit, explore the facilities, meet the teachers and ask questions.

A session to equip parents with information about healthy lunchbox ideas, interactive activities and take-home resources, will run from 6.30-8pm on Tuesday, March 24, at the Caroline Springs library, 193 Caroline Springs Boulevard.

Melton mayor Sophie Ramsey said going to kindergarten was an important milestone in a child’s life.

“Going to kinder allows children to make friends and socialise, learn through play and understand the principles of caring and sharing,” Cr Ramsey said.

“These session will provide important information about the benefits of kindergarten and how to know when your child is ready to start.”
