Melton pharmacy simply nails Teal Ribbon Day

Men and women alike are being encouraged to “teal up” this February to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

February is ovarian cancer awareness month, and the community is being encouraged to get behind the campaign by donning the colour teal, the international colour for ovarian cancer.

Chemmart pharmacies across the nation, including Chemmart Superstore in Melton, are supporting Ovarian Cancer Australia by launching the Colour for a Cause campaign, which invites people to colour their nails teal.

As part of the campaign, Chemmart Melton will stock a limited-edition Colour for a Cause teal nail polish pack throughout February, with every cent of the proceeds from sold packs going to Ovarian Cancer Australia.

The money will be used to help the organisation deliver awareness, support, advocacy and research programs.

Chemmart Melton manager Tony Cox didn’t shy away from the “man-icure” and hoped more males would follow his lead.

“It doesn’t matter if you’re male or female, it affects everybody,” Mr Cox said. “

Every guy has a mother, sister, wife or daughter who can suffer from ovarian cancer. ”

Mr Cox says he hopes more people will show their support this month, especially on February 25 for Teal Ribbon Day.

On that day, the store will have teal cupcakes available and staff on hand to provide manicures in return for a donation.

The nail polish packs are available for $6.99.
