Sydenham-Hillside is in the box seat after day one of its North West Metropolitan Cricket Association clash against Burnside Springs.
Bowling first, Sydenham met little resistance against the Burnside batting line-up, taking wickets at regular intervals to remove the Springs for 135 in the 62nd over. In reply, Sydenham is 2-50 from 18 overs.
The batting side will need a further 86 runs when play resumes this week.
Elsewhere in NWMCA, Kealba Green Gully looks likely to take the points against Clarkefield Brumbies.
A five-wicket haul for Evan Long helped Kealba dismiss the Brumbies for 134. In reply, Kealba is 1-63.
