Rock’n on at Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival

The Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival is on again, and everyone is being encouraged to get their rock ’n’ roll gear on.

The festival is celebrating its third year in Ballarat with an all-new-events team taking over this year.

Event manager Kate Burrows says the festival offers an all-Australian line-up of rockabilly and rock ’n’ roll bands, including The Detonators, Atomic Hi-Tones, the Lincolns and West Texas Crude.

“We are able to bring together some of the best Australian rockabilly and rock bands to this year’s music line-up,” Ms Burrows said.

Bands will perform live over four days from Thursday, February 12, on Ballarat’s Lydiard Street, which will be closed to traffic.

Rockabilly fashion will also be on show, with a fashion parade and other events centre stage. They’ll include a 2015 Miss Ballarat Beat Pin-Up competition and a “best dressed competition” that anyone can enter.

“We are so excited by the vibe that will be created by all the fashion events at the Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival, along with the music and car show, ” Ms Burrows said.

American pin-up model Brittany Jean will make a guest appearance at a warbird pin-up shoot at Ballarat Aviation Museum before heading to the George Hotel for the festival’s launch on Friday, February 13.

The model is touring Australia to help raise money for Vixens4Veterans, which in turn donates to Mates4Mates and Soldier On.

On the Sunday, there will be an all-day street party and classic car show.

All street activities at the festival are free, while venue events are ticketed.
