Building company Nostra Homes will perform any required remedial work to fix a Melton West home allegedly affected by “slab heave”.
Melissa Bryant and Robert Fraser last week told Star Weekly they had spent thousands of dollars repairing cracked walls, ceilings and floors at their dream home, built six years ago.
The couple has taken Nostra Homes to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, claiming thousands of dollars compensation for money allegedly spent on repairs and independent assessments.
Nostra Homes has denied responsibility for drainage issues, which have allegedly led to the “slab heave” issues affecting the home.
Lawyers for the company told Star Weekly: “VCAT proceedings have been commenced and adjourned against Nostra Homes while the owners perform plumbing remedial works.
“Accordingly, there are no current allegations that have been filed and served against Nostra Homes in the VCAT proceeding.
“If and when these are filed and served, Nostra will return and perform any further remedial works in accordance with its obligations under the relevant legislation in Victoria. This has always been Nostra’s position.”
A Victorian Building Authority investigation last year found 5.3 per cent of homes in the western suburbs built between 2003 and 2011 had faults, such as cracks in the floor and walls.
