Melton youngsters Isabelle and Daniela are heeding the SunSmart message as temperatures continue to rise.
The Victorian government, together with the Cancer Council Victoria, launched a six-week SunSmart advertising campaign last week to remind all Victorians about the dangers of excessive sun exposure and tanning.
Although skin cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer, more than 40,000 cases are treated in Victoria every year.
Moorabool Shire early years manager Sharon McArthur said it was important for the community to remember to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, not leave children in cars or unattended near water. She also said children should remember the “no hat, no play” rule.
