Melton remains in fourth spot, eight points clear of Essendon (2).
Melton’s second side lost to Yarraville/Footscray in division 2, section 1, going down 16 (87)-2 (60).
The battle for third and fourth in the Central Highlands Bowls division is getting tight, with just 18 points separating five teams.
Woodend is 15 clear on top of the ladder, while Gisborne and Trentham are out of the running for finals.
In mid-table, Lancefield, Bacchus Marsh, Romsey Kyneton Golf and Kyneton are in a five-way battle for second through to sixth.
Lancefield cemented second place on the ladder with a 16 (121)-2 (73) success against winless Trentham.
Kyneton Golf sits third on 112 points, 11 points clear of Kyneton, after beating its cross-town rival 14 (104)-4 (96).
Kyneton’s has it fourth on 101 points, just ahead of Romsey and Bacchus Marsh.
Romsey had an easy 16 (116)-2 (59) win over Gisborne to sit two points outside the top four.
Bacchus Marsh slipped outside the four with a loss to Woodend.
After splitting the first rink, Woodend took the points in the other three rinks to get home 17 (114)-1 (89).
