As temperatures soared last Wednesday hundreds of people sought refuge at Melton Waves Leisure Centre, including three-year-old Chase and dad Steph (pictured).
As Melton Waves’ lifeguards reminded the kids and adults about general water safety, Melton council announced it would be undertaking pool and spa audits at homes across the municipality.
Pools and spas with water a depth of 30 centimetres or more are required to have safety barriers. Those connected to permanent recirculation filtered systems must have building permits and associated safety barriers. For more information, call the council’s building unit on 9747 7200.
