Pupils at Rockbank Primary School are “Xtremely Xcited” after being crowned state champions earlier this month.
The school’s Xtreme Skipping Team will be heading to Canberra for the nationals next September.
Coach Karen Calleja says she’s proud of the 18 pupils who danced and skipped to tell the story of Alice in Wonderland.
“I’m really proud of all the children because they put in so much time,” she said.
“They look after each other, encourage each other and try to get other students in the school to be a part of the team.”
Ms Calleja started the skipping teams 18 years ago to encourage pupils to develop self-confidence.
“We’ve had children who aren’t confident to even speak to their peers who are now standing up in front of 500 people and making speeches and performing.”
The theme for next year’s competition will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
