West beats rest for investment, says Business West 21

The west is the best for investors, small businesses and employees, according to a newly formed lobby group.

Business West 21 has been developed by stakeholders and businesses in the western suburbs to promote the state’s fastest-growing area and provide a “clear and effective voice for businesses when it comes to communicating with all levels of government”, as well as encouraging people to set up shop here.

The group was officially launched by State Development Minister Peter Ryan in Footscray last week and will cover Melton, Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley and Wyndham.

“With an extra 300,00 people expected to live and work in Melbourne’s west, it’s important that we have groups such as Business West 21 working alongside all levels of government to support this rapid growth,” Mr Ryan said.

Business West 21 is expected to assist Plan Melbourne by attracting businesses, investment and jobs to “national employment clusters” across the western suburbs, an area which “clearly has a lot of potential for growth”.

“I am confident the organisation will grow from strength to strength and provide great support to these growing communities,” Mr Ryan said.

The Western Melbourne Regional Development Australia committee and LeadWest have assisted with the formation of Business West 21.
