Stitches and Craft Show: Melton duo get a little crafty

Self-confessed ‘craftaholics’ Terri McLeod and Kat Back have been overwhelmed by the support locals have given their little Melton store, I’m A Craftaholic.

The duo have been dabbling in arts and crafts for as long as they can remember, but it was only six months ago they decided to set up shop to sell their ‘gems’.

Ms McLeod and Ms Back will be holding workshops at one of the nation’s most-loved travelling craft shows, The Stitches and Craft Show, at Caulfield racecourse in late October.

“We’re trying to capture the kids’ imagination at these workshops and we want parents to realise how easy it is for kids to be creative,” Ms McLeod said.

“Children need a creative outlet and parents need to encourage their children to explore what they can do.”

Ms McLeod says she wants people to “give a stitch this Christmas” by making stuffed toys.

“We’re asking people to donate the first toy they make to the Kmart wishing tree,” she said.

“We want something we can all unite in because we deal with ladies all over Australia.”

The Stitches and Craft Show is 10am-4.30pm, from Thursday, October 23 to Sunday, October 26 at Caulfield racecourse, gate 22/Station Street, Caulfield East.

Tickets cost from $9. For more details, visit www.craftevents.com.au
