Royal Melbourne Show: Young Melton cake maker tastes success

It’s a sweet life for Melton’s Natasha Grech. Natasha, 13, who aspires to be a pastry chef, won two first prizes at this year’s Royal Melbourne Show.

Natasha has spent two years honing her skills with the help of her mother Sandra and teacher Andy Stewart, with whom she has private lessons twice a week.

Natasha won the best in show rozette for students up to year 12 and first prize for decorated cakes by students up to year 8.

Her winning entry took about 70 hours to make.

Natasha, who hopes to open her own cake shop by the time she’s 19, regularly makes cakes for friends and family for events such as birthdays, engagements, christenings and kitchen teas.
