If open space of about 4046 square metres (one acre) in the thick of suburbia, surrounded by similar sized properties, is the most important ingredient in your property search, this is one not to be overlooked. It’s rather remarkable that such an ‘open skies’ feel can be found in town and, when supported by a fine, family-friendly house, the deal just gets better.

Attention given to streetside, where walkways meander through a series of densely planted garden beds, is indicative of careful presentation found inside where layout, sensible zoning and a mix of old-school and today’s style distribute their homey comforts.

Polished slate begins underfoot in the entry hall and flows into the living hub, but before that there’s the main bedroom which has a ceiling fan, two built-in robes and an en suite with a vanity unit under a bulkhead, a heat lamp and big shower. An open, carpeted lounge room opposite has a colonial bay window.

Next to a family-meals zone, the U-shaped kitchen has a servery bench, Tassy oak cabinetry, a pantry, dual-drawer dishwasher, wall oven and 900mm gas cooktop.

A slate-tiled hallway heads to the laundry with closet, the tri-section main bathroom incorporating a powder room and spa, and three bedrooms with built-in robes and ceiling fans.

A colonial-paned slider from the family room opens to a raised deck under a pitched-roof pergola, sheltered by bistro blinds and edged with a pebbled garden bed. TV connection makes it a fine spot to watch the footy. A step down from here, there’s a sealed aggregate area with brick barbecue – defined by a sandstone-edged garden and a row of slim pines.

Dotted with gums and cypress trees, the enormous backyard has a garden shed, a netted vegie patch and blood plum, nectarine and apricot trees. A tradie’s or hobbyist’s dream, there are two side-by-side sheds of about 6×12-metres and 4×9-metres respectively; one has work shelves and a sink.

A side driveway through double gates heads to the sheds, so truck or caravan entry is no problem. The neat-as-a-pin property has ducted heating, evaporative cooling, ducted vacuum, a 20,000-litre water tank with pump that irrigates gardens, expansive parking space at the front, and a coloured-concrete driveway to a double garage.
