Bacchus Marsh is one step closer to a controversial rezoning of the Underbank Stud Farm.
A “special council meeting” was held last week to discuss Underbank Rezoning Proposal amendments, which council adopted.
An application to redevelop the land and turn it into a residential precinct was first submitted by Kataland in October, 2011.
Kataland project manager Tom Grantham said his team was happy with the outcome of the meeting.
“We feel quite positive.”
Five meetings had previously been held in relation to the proposed development of the site.
The council and locals had concerns about potential traffic problems, with four connections proposed via Randwick Avenue, Underbank Boulevard, Mortons Road and the extension of Halletts Way.
The council report notes the extension of Hallets Way is vital.
Mr Grantham said Kataland would continue to listen to the concerns and opinions of the community.
The council will submit the rezoning amendment to the Planning Minister for approval.
If approved, Kataland will prepare a development plan, which must be endorsed by the council, and then apply for a planning permit.
