Occupants safe as Bacchus Marsh garage goes up in flames

Bacchus Marsh fire brigade volunteers worked into the night to save a garage from going up in flames.

The crew arrived at the Jonathan Drive home in Darley at midnight on Sunday, August 10, to find the fire in a garage was spreading to a pergola.

Fourth Lieutenant Dale Salathiel said two occupants were inside the house at the time of the blaze but escaped without injury.

He said an electrical fault caused the blaze. He encouraged residents to get an electrician to inspect their property every few years to avoid tragedy.
