Every water main in Melton will be cleaned out over the next 18 months to ensure access to clean drinking water.
Western Water managing director Neil Brennan said supplies would be temporarily switched off street by street as pipes were cleaned.
“Anyone who is affected will receive a letter prior to the work being carried out, notifying them of the details,” Mr Brennan said.
