WRFL: Caroline Springs Lakers close to huge upset

Caroline Springs came close to causing a huge upset against Wyndhamvale before going down by nine points in division 2 of the Western Region Football League on Saturday.

The sixth-placed Lakers took it up to the second-placed Falcons and four goals to one in the third term gave them a seven-point lead at the final change.

But the Falcons rallied with four goals in the last 30 minutes to secure the 12.15 (87) to 12.6 (78) win.

Shaun Buttigieg-Clarke and Lewis Tudor each kicked four for Caroline Springs, while Jerome Caterino was impressive around the ground.

The Lakers finished sixth with a 10-8 record.
