Search reveals ‘stolen’ bikes in Melton South

A number of allegedly stolen motorbikes were found at the house of a 24-year-old Melton South man last week.

Melton police said the man was originally arrested and charged over the possession of one stolen motorbike and a quantity of drugs.

Detective Leading Senior Constable Paul Barrow said police later executed a search warrant at the man’s home where they found more motorbikes and a large quantity of allegedly stolen goods, including power tools and other electrical items.

The man has been remanded in custody to reappear at Sunshine Magistrates Court on August 29.

Meanwhile, police executed a search warrant at a property in Melton West on August 4 and found a 2012 Honda Civic sedan believed to be stolen.

A 23-year-old man and a woman were arrested.

Police said the search also found more than 100 other allegedly stolen items, some of which were believed to be from the local CFA building, and a quantity of drugs.

Elsewhere, a large quantity of illicit substances and stolen goods were found at a property in Taylors Hill last week.

Police searched the premises on August 5 and charged a woman in relation to trafficking a drug of dependence, handling stolen goods and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Police urge residents and motorists to lock car doors and keep their premises secure after at least nine burglaries in the area between August 1 and 4.

Information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
