Some little hands got their hands dirty last week, planting for the future as part of Planet Ark’s National Tree Day.
Anay, 2, Hannah, 5, and Jordyn, 3, were among preschoolers from Goodstart Early Learning Centre in Melton West who did their bit for the environment by planting trees in the centre’s gardens.
They also learnt how to help look after plants during an incursion by gardening program The Sage Garden.
Children were given a tree to take home and nurture. Kindergarten assistant Katrina Mallia said the kids loved hands-on learning activities and were excited to see how their plants and vegetables would grow.
Each year, more than 200,000 people take part in National Tree Day events around the country.
