Winter blows in at last across Moorabool towns

Moorabool turned into a winter wonderland last week with snowfall in some of the shire’s towns.

Residents, including Janelle in Springbank, were happy to snap some snow shots.

A cold spell which hit Victoria gave us some of our coldest days this winter and the icy conditions were expected to continue into this week.

Bureau of Meteorology supervising meteorologist Gary Missen said the cold blast was not particularly unusual for the winter months.

And although temperature in the region averaged 15-16 degrees in May, it dropped to as low as 7.8 last week. Mr Missen said residents now needed to gear up for colder days to come.

“We’ve been spoilt with so much good weather, but now we’re getting these cold wintry snaps,” he said.
