Funds keep Bacchus Marsh firefighters in touch

Communication between Bacchus Marsh firemen on the job will improve thanks to two new 80-channel radios.

The Uniden UHF radios are valued about $300 each and were given to the Bacchus Marsh CFA by Safeway as part of a $2000 donation.

The remaining funds went towards a 40-litre portable fridge, which Bacchus Marsh CFA fourth lieutenant Dale Salathiel says will come in handy in summer.

“When summer’s at its peak and we’re out on multiple jobs in a row, it can mean our water bottles melt in the sun,” Salathiel says.

“At least now we can stay properly hydrated, and will easily utilise two further radios. We’re very happy.’’
