Pupils at Kurunjang Primary School, including Joshua, Nicole, Makuei, Elizabeth and Fili Maria, are celebrating new-found skills after two terms of taking part in special programs.
Their focus was to teach the children about working in a team environment and reaching collective goals.
Student well-being officer Kathleen McInnes said the children had been given the chance to explore and develop their social and leadership skills through hands-on involvement, with an important part of the program being exploring Aboriginal culture.
Youngsters worked alongside mentors to create a musical performance that strengthened cultural understanding.
They also developed a seated garden area, gave a circus performance and ran a cooking program.
“The pupils’ concepts of problem solving, persistence, communication, cultural diversity and teamwork have all been strengthened by the program,” Ms McInnes said.
