A family business has won top honours in this year’s Powercor Australia City of Melton Business Excellence Awards.
Abey Australia has been named the City of Melton’s Business of the Year. Eynesbury Homestead and Golf Course received the Mayoral Achievement Award.
The award winners were announced at Witchmount Estate in Rockbank earlier this month in an event attended by more than 200 business and community representatives.

Abey Australia managing director Geoff Anderson said he was proud to receive the award.
Mr Anderson said the business, which manufactures and sells plumbing and building products and which also received the Leaders in Innovation and Leaders in Sustainability awards, was an integral part of the community and placed great importance on giving back to Melton.
“We’re very proud, very happy because it means all the hard work you put in all year is worth it,” he said.
“The staff were rapt, it gets everyone together … I think it’s good to be appreciated.”
Mayor Bob Turner said the awards celebrated innovative and entrepreneurial spirit in the municipality.
Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden received the Best Community and Not for Profit Organisation award.
