Dragnet leads to fines, suspension

A Melton and Brimbank highway patrol operation has nabbed almost 150 speeding drivers. More than 350 motorists travelling on the Western and Melton highways were stopped between mid-March and last week with a total of 205 offences detected. Four drivers had their licences suspended. Nine motorists were fined after being caught using a mobile phone while driving. One driver returned a blood-alcohol reading of more than .05.

Gallipoli applications open

Students and teachers in Melton and Moorabool are being urged to apply to attend next year’s centenary Anzac Day dawn service in Gallipoli. The state government will send 80 Victorian students from years 9-12 and 18 teacher-chaperones to the service. Students must make a written application by June 13. Council face-time facilities

New video call facilities have been set up by Moorabool council to help residents with planning or maternal

and child health matters. The new system can be accessed from any laptop or mobile phone, or by using video conferencing units at the

Darley, Ballan and Lerderderg
