The Liberal candidate for the new state seat of Buninyong hopes to create a region where future generations have more options for a university education and employment.
Former Ballarat councillor Ben Taylor (pictured) will contest the seat at November’s state election and says he’s passionate about the growth of the area.
“I want to make sure towns like Ballan are sustainable and continue to grow in terms of services,” he said.
“I also think it’s important for people to be active, but in order for them to be involved there needs to be the right facilities.”
Mr Taylor, who lives in Ballarat East with his wife and four children, served a term as councillor from 2008. He narrowly missed victory in the last state election after standing in the former seat of Ballarat East.
“Since 2010 my passion has not dwindled and it’s even clearer now that we need a change in this electorate,” he said.
Mr Taylor will run against sitting Ballarat East Labor MP Geoff Howard and National Party candidate Sonia Smith.
