Emergency experience a big plus for Moorabool

Moorabool residents can feel safe knowing the council has experienced staff on hand for emergency situations such as a bushfire.

Council’s emergency manager, Cherie Graham, took on the role of recovery manager for the northern Grampians region when authorities battled bushfires in late January.

“I attended regional recovery meetings in Horsham and a local meeting in Stawell,” she said, explaining her first-hand experience of the fire-affected areas.

Ms Graham worked through funding and waste removal processes, developed a communications strategy and completed an eight-week recovery action plan.

She was also involved in the development of Moorabool’s revised three-year municipal emergency plan, which will be reviewed on May 9.
