Feast of March in Moorabool starts in style

Moorabool’s Feast of March started in romantic fashion when about 400 people attended the Wallace Hotel’s “Wallace Wants a Wife” on March 1.

“The event is a sellout every year, and it’s a great opportunity for people to find their special someone,” mayor Paul Tatchell said.

“Who doesn’t want a bit of romance in their life?”

The month-long festival brings together the region’s farmers, foodies and families to share the season’s bountiful harvest of apples, pears, pumpkins, grapes and strawberries.

The local leg of the annual World’s Longest Lunch will be on Friday from noon-4pm at Myrniong, while a “Feast with the Farmers” will be held in Ballan on Saturday from 9am-1pm.

Other events include a Feast in the Forest in the Garden of St Erth and the Harvest Festival on March 16 in Bacchus Marsh, which gives patrons the chance to meet growers, explore farms and sip on ciders and wines.

Cr Tatchell encouraged people to get involved. “[You’ll] receive a great feed and a fabulous experience amongst the beautiful surrounds in our shire,’’ he said.
