No word on date for Darley broadband

Residents living north of Wittick Street in Darley are still waiting for high-speed broadband, with the National Broadband Network Company (NBNCo) refusing to confirm a service date.

Darley Neighbourhood House manager Anna Curry said the centre on Jonathon Drive was still waiting for an NBN connection promised last year.

“Staff came in around June last year and asked where they could connect it. When I said I wasn’t sure, they left and haven’t got back to us since,” Ms Curry said.

An NBNCo spokesman said the company’s strategic review, released last year, recommended the NBN be built using a mixture of technologies to deliver the voice and broadband services “faster, cheaper and more efficiently”.

Moorabool mayor Paul Tatchell said the community wanted access to the same services as the rest of Darley, Bacchus Marsh and Maddingley. Bacchus Marsh was the first Victorian country area to join the network last year.
