Melton’s new ambulance station will provide better support for local paramedics, according to Health Minister David Davis.
“Not only is it worth knowing that physical infrastructure is coming in the form of a new branch, there has also been an upgrade of night-time capacity last year and a capacity upgrade in Bacchus Marsh,” Mr Davis said.
“Starting on Monday, [there will be] a new peak-period unit providing additional coverage during the day in this branch.”
The Melton branch will now have two 24-hour crews and one 12-hour crew.
The new station includes rest rooms, offices, a training room, lounge and a three-bay garage.
A memorial plaque for former Melton paramedic Peter Watson was also unveiled on Friday. Mr Watson, whose family was present for the ceremony, was a paramedic for 31 years.
