The Melton community is rallying behind mother of three Kristina Coffey as she battles terminal cancer.
The 35-year-old, who was first diagnosed with breast and thyroid cancer in March 2012, was last month told that the cancer had spread throughout her body.
This was just weeks after she gave birth to her third child, Hope.
Ms Coffey is also mother to Bailey, 8, and Shae, 6.
Watching her best friend go through this pain, Christie Golding shared an emotional Facebook post, asking people to help her make Ms Coffey’s wish of one last family holiday come true.
After reading the post, Samantha Spiteri, who has met Ms Coffey through friends, came up with the idea of ‘Cruise for Krissy’, a fund-raiser to help the family and set up a trust fund for the children.
On February 8, a convoy of cars will leave McDonald’s on the Western Ring Road and travel to Williamstown before returning to Melton’s Hannah Watts Park for a family day at midday.
The event will include entertainment, food, stalls and auctions.
“I don’t have much financially, but we want to help out any way we can,” Ms Spiteri said.
“I hope other people would do the same thing for me.”
