No limits on Bacchus Marsh teenager’s life

Bacchus Marsh’s Regan Maher has more to think about than most 14-year-olds.

She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age seven, and five months later discovered she had coeliac disease.

Regan began managing the conditions herself shortly after diagnosis.

“I test my blood sugar levels and give myself an insulin injection four times a day,” says the Bacchus Marsh College student.

Regan attended a Diabetes Australia camp held at Somers in mid-January.

“It was so much fun. We went surfing, saw dolphins, had water fights and went bowling. You forget you have diabetes, even though everyone there has it.”
