COUNCIL DISHES OUT FOR CAR PARK (Weekly, January 21)

Melton council is now recklessly wasting ratepayers’ money on Victorian government school car parks. This is a blatant misuse of ratepayers’ money. The state government bears responsibility for this car park – NOT Melton council ratepayers.

Hang on, that school is located on a major road, with heavy haulage trucks. Drive past that school at 3pm. It’s amazing that kids haven’t been killed! Don’t comment until you actually have an idea what you’re talking about. Well done Melton council for taking the initiative.

SCHOOLS IN LIMBO (Weekly, November 25)

With one state secondary school in the entire shire of Moorabool, extra money is desperately needed.

Not many families in the area can afford private school fees.

Excellent work by the staff and the community at Bacchus Marsh College goes without the recognition and the money it deserves.

Better schools will attract and help retain great teaching staff.

REGIONAL ROAD FUNDS

Premier Denis Napthine’s decision to spend $8 billion on the east-west tunnel in inner Melbourne will lock up billions of dollars desperately needed for vital road projects in the state’s suburbs and regions.

As Victoria’s population grows, more people rely on our road network to get around, with 1.8 million Victorians travelling on the state’s roads during peak hour each day. As part of Project 10,000, Labor will introduce a $1 billion fund to repair and upgrade roads in Melbourne’s outer suburban and interface communities.

Labor’s commitment is not a replacement of current roads funding as Dr Napthine’s deputy, Peter Ryan, has misleadingly spread among the community to cover his own government’s failures. This additional funding will help fix the neglect that the Napthine-Ryan Coalition has shown for suburban roads since coming to office.
