Blackwood Special School pupils head bush

It’s not often that children in wheelchairs can go cross-country with ease, so imagine the delight of Blackwood Special School pupils when they had the chance to ‘head bush’ on two TrailRiders.

The all-terrain-access wheelchairs were used to transport the young adventurers around Blackwood Recreation Reserve and Lerderderg River in late October.

“The kids loved it; they had an absolute ball,” staff member Chris Cook said.

“It’s like a high-tech wheelbarrow that has someone at the back to guide and steer, and then one at the front to pull it along.”

The TrailRiders, valued at $7000 each, can be booked for up to a week through Bacchus Marsh’s Lerderderg library or the Daylesford Regional Visitor Information Centre.
