NEW MOORABOOL MAYOR (Weekly, November 5)

So far, Paul Tatchell has been all show and no go; let’s hope it changes.

MY SHOUT (Weekly, October 22)

The difference between we climate change deniers and you fear-mongering believers is that deniers don’t think 30 years of scientists agreeing it could be a crisis is a good enough reason to believe in condemning billions of helpless children to a CO2 crisis.

Not one IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) warning says anything beyond “could be” a crisis. You say it will be a crisis while science only says it could be a crisis. How is this not pure fear mongering on your part, doomers?

RIDE REZONING

Regarding Melton council’s proposal to rezone a small section of land on Outlook Ride with 75 houses – do councillors understand that there are already traffic concerns in the area and that this will just cause more problems? Please reconsider this proposal; it’s just crazy.

WALK TO SCHOOL

This month, many Melton families will leave their cars at home and use their feet to get to and from school during VicHealth’s annual Walk to School Month.

Childhood obesity is rising to epidemic levels. It is crucial for the future health of our youngest generations that we turn these trends around. Walking is a free, and easy, part of the solution. It reduces body fat, improves fitness and reduces the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. It also helps develop motor and coping skills, healthy self-esteem and social skills.

Whether it’s taking part in Walk to School, forming a walking group or parking further away from school and walking the rest of the distance, there are plenty of ways to get kids moving every day. I encourage all families with primary school-aged kids to get involved in Walk to School Month then keep up the habit.
