Moorabool councillor David Edwards has urged state and federal governments to manage growth in a sustainable way that balances the needs of residents in outer-metro areas.
Cr Edwards, chairman of Victoria’s peri-urban group of rural councils, took part in the first national peri-urban conference at La Trobe University Bundoora this month.
The group, established in 2007, represents seven shire councils that border metropolitan Melbourne and Geelong; it seeks to create a comprehensive vision for the peri-urban region.
