BCA: Darley in tough battle to avoid outright

Darley will need to rally to avoid outright defeat after conceding first innings points to Ballarat-Redan on the opening day of their first-grade clash at Alfredton Oval.

Darley couldn’t handle Ballarat-Redan bowler Nathan Patrikeos (6-21), who had the top order all departing for single figures as the Lions slumped to 6-21.

Rohan Parag (18) and Jamie McKerrow (25) were the only Darley bats to make double figures as their 40-run stand got the Devils to 61.

But Patrikeos returned to dismiss both, with Ballarat-Redan wrapping up the innings by the 39th over for 73.

Ballarat Redan had 41 overs to face before stumps and is already 3-107. Action continues this Saturday.

In division 1, Ballan was all-out 142 on day one with Lucas 1-42 in reply.
