Realistic look at special needs

Moorabool council staff including chief executive Rob Croxford (pictured) experienced some of the struggles faced by people with special needs as part of an interactive training session based on the TV show The Amazing Race.

In a ‘‘realistic race’’, councillors and staff adopted disabilities.

Cr Tonia Dudzik said she found using a mobile scooter difficult.

“I was dropped off by a taxi and let out on the roadside, but I couldn’t get on to the footpath,” she said. “We need more ramps, and cab drivers need training to handle people with special needs.”
